George Shadrack Kamanda Founder / Chief Executive Officer
Born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, George Shadrack Kamanda holds a BA in political science and international relations from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia and a certificate in global human rights from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He is currently a doctor of law (JD) student at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, as well as a master’s degree student of diplomacy at the University of Oxford. public speaker, George is a proven leader with a keen understanding of
teamwork and cooperative learning. He has presented
research at the United Nations in New York and served as a panelist and
contributor on several college and university forums. As founder and
executive director of The Necessity Firm, a citizenship firm seeking to
shape and empower “whole citizens” who are objective on matters of nation-building regardless of their social, political, or tribal affiliations, he leads

Sanjay is currently a Supply Chain Data Analyst with Mass General Brigham in Boston, Massachusetts, who primarily focuses on healthcare-related clinical and non-clinical asset sourcing and savings initiatives for the organization. He is both well-versed in the healthcare industry space, as well as general macroeconomic policy, and non-profit consulting. He holds a B.S. in Economics with a minor in Applied Statistics and a concentration in Data Analytics. Sanjay has been a strong supporter of the Necessity Firm’s mission. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, biking, hiking, playing the cello and going to the gym!
Sam is an active researcher and lover of all things science related. She spends most of her time working with patients in hospitals, finding creative and scientific ways to improve their wellbeing, and is passionate about helping students navigate a career in research and healthcare. As a consultant with the Necessity Firm she provides mentorship and guidance and is a strong supporter of its mission. In her free time, Sam enjoys running, playing basketball, and spending time with friends and her brothers. She holds a Bsc. in Microbiology and a certificate in Managing Health Services Programs and Projects.
Josh currently works for General Electric Health Care as a staff software engineer, subject matter expert, mentor/coach and technical consultant, supporting imaging global teams with a more focused Design for Reliability (DFR) efforts. He is also an entrepreneur and philanthropist. His passion for education in Science and Technology, has made him an Avid promoter and supporter of the learning of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). He is both well-versed in the medical device industry and mentoring of STEM students. He holds a BSc (Hon) in Mathematics from the Open University in London, U.K and a master’s degree in software engineering from Saint Thomas university in Minnesota, USA. Josh has been a strong supporter of the Necessity Firm’s mission. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his young family, listening to music, walking, and playing soccer!
Rey is a bioengineering graduate from the University of Pittsburgh currently pursuing a Masters of Medical Product Engineering and Innovation from the same institute. He is also a member of the Artificial Heart Program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, assisting in cardiothoracic surgery and heart transplant procedures. At the Necessity Firm, he acts as a consultant who assists in creating strategy for inclusivity, awareness, and mentorship. Outside of work, he is an avid runner and biker and works for STEM outreach programs.
James is currently serving as facilities and asset officer for the Judiciary of Sierra Leone—where he manages all facilities and assets related issues for the entire Judiciary. He is skilled in Human resources, health, and safety, facilities, properties, business analysis, project and supply chain management. He is a scholarly and proven leader of over a decade of serving and leading high-profile leadership positions. He is known to many as a coach, a teacher, a mentor, a preacher, and a motivational speaker. He has an excellent track record and reputation, and he is an example for many young people in Sierra Leone.
He is married with one child to his beautiful wife, Iye Sesay!! He graduated from the University of Sierra Leone with a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Business Administration with a specialty in Human Resource Management. As a first-class Graduate, he came out with the best result in his department with an Award from the USL. At university, he was the president of Sierra Leone Fellowship of Evangelical Students and the SLEFS Student Regional Committee Chairman. He is a man of faith and a dedicated Christian. He is passionate about social change, governance, and public service in Sierra Leone.
Alpha Umaru Bah is the current Attorney General of Fourah Bay College Students’ Union Government. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Sociology from Fourah Bay College, the University of Sierra Leone in 2016, and he is presently a final year law student pursuing a degree in law (LLB) at the same University.
Alpha Umaru Bah is passionate about building his society and also working with community development organizations. He is currently a volunteer teacher at the Prince of Wales school, his alma mater, where he teaches Government. He loves reading and writing poems.
